I’m pretty sure that this is a time when many of you are already at sea, while others are anxiously expecting to retire for a while in the beach house, feeling the breeze and letting the sun inside. I am trying to find a safe place to go this summer even for just a few days to relax after a stressful period, so the idea of the beach house came to my mind. For those of you who own one, maybe you’ll be interested in some ideas of how to decorate it. For us others, maybe bringing in some of these decorations could help bring in a summerish atmosphere 😉
Disclosure: in this article I have included some affiliate links to products that I either tried or really believe could work perfect for the purpose, so I reccomend them with confidence. As an affiliate, I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links. If you choose to include the products in your designs, you are welcome to share your opinions or even photos of the results. Also, if there are specific arguments that you would like me to write about or if you need advice on a certain topic regarding architecture and interior design, please share! I would be glad to help! Thanks a lot!
First of all, neutral tones for the walls and floors are fundamental in this case: I would totally go for white walls and a light floor. This is generally a great choice for all interiors, so that the design can be completed with colorful accessories, but it works even more in the case of beach houses, where one has so many decorations to add to the space. You go there to relax, so maybe you’ll want to change often its design, buy some new accessories or decorations and you could come up each summer with new ideas.
Curtains are an important part of the interior atmosphere and must not be underestimated. They can help a lot in defining a style. In the case of a summer house, I would reccomend to opt either for a light colored, only textured curtain or else to go with a decided, playful imprint. Check this out:

If you are part of the more “courageous” ones, you can also try a wall mural. It’s pretty easy to apply by yourself, but it is more “invasive” since it gives the room a defined style. This can be a plus if you find a nice design and can become a minus if you get bored quickly. You can find some ideas at this link and hereis my favourite design that can be used either in the children’s room or in any other part of the house due to its versatility:

Here comes my favourite part: pillows! I love them for how easy they change the mood of the house! They are pretty economic decorations that can also be changed often if you get bored of the same patterns. Even more fantastic: you don’t need to change the pillows, but just the pillow case. Creating the summerish atmosphere you wish for can be pretty easy with their help. Take a look at these designs and give your suggestions in the comments, I would love to know what models you choose to decorate your house.

Of course, lamps cannot be left aside from this list. Summer is a season of light and sun, but also of evening parties with friends, so do not underestimate lampshades. Also, they are an important decorative element in almost all the rooms of the house: from the livingroom to the bedroom. Nowadays, online and offline markets offer all kinds of models for different tastes. For example, if you love vintage style you could take inspiration from this lamp with textured waves. The delicate tones of colour and its dynamic design will make it just perfect for a sea house atmosphere.

Last but not least, don’t forget that design is in the details. The small decorations, like frames or table linens are important for the total image of the interior. Trust me, you will feel like something is missing if you don’t manage to curate these little details. Therefore, I found this for you, but I am pretty sure you can find tons of them online:

For now, this is what came to my mind for helping decorate your beach house. However, I would take into consideration also seashells or stones that can somehow bring sea to your mind. When you go on holiday, remember to buy a souvenir for yourself: one that you would love to see inside the house. Therefore, you will have achieved two goals in one shot: buy something pretty that will remind you of a wonderful trip and will bring a contribution to the interior design of your house.
Next week I will be here with new tips: still need to get my inspiration! 😉
