Hello again, I hope you have all returned safely to work despite the critical situation around the world, and most of all, hope you are all safe and well 🤗.
Today I thought I’d share some of the Pro’s and Con’s of living in a tiny house. There is a tendency lately around the world for designing tiny houses which I partly share. But I won’t spoil more to you, here you have some of the ideas that came to my mind:

- Pro: first of all, tiny houses help you save some money on the building site (depending on the system chosen for the construction, the amount of money saved will surprise you for sure). Just think about the spare of construction materials physically: less surface/volume to be built, less money needed.
- Con: however, not everything that glows is gold…designing a tiny house sometimes also means customized furniture in order to make it fit where needed. This has a higher cost than you’d expect. Also, if one chooses expensive materials, even a smaller surface/volume will become costly. Just about how everything works, it all depends on the expectations and the decisions you take.
- Pro: maybe the first one was pretty easy to guess, but there is another great advantage: the time spent in cleaning it. Imagine a two-floors villa and a compact, modern tiny house with a versatile design: I can assure you that the time spent for cleaning will be considerably reduced…and you’ll love it!
- Con: sometimes the lack of space might impact on furniture decisions or it will limit other types of purchases simply because you wouldn’t have where to place a certain object. This might become frustrating sometimes, but I like to think of it as a challenge 💪. Don’t you ever discourage yourself!
- Pro: living in a tiny house can also mean a more sustainable lifestyle. It would certainly be easier than with a big house to equip it with renewable energy sources, such as solar panels for example. The smaller dimensions would also mean a more efficient heating system and of course, a smaller footprint.
- Con: but as I already mentioned for other aspects, it all depends on the owner: some of you might love to stay 3 hours in the shower even if it’s tiny… So please take all the Pro’s with responsibility and decide if a tiny house really makes your case.
- Pro: most tiny houses are also built to come with you wherever you go. This can be a real treat especially if you are a born traveller: either for work or pleasure. It would mean more time to spend “at home” and so many lovely adventures together with your family.
- Con: it isn’t always easy to do that because of the zoning regulations. You might have the unexpected surprise of not always finding the right place to “stop” your house on wheels and it might become a problem if not prepared. Also, for some people (including myself), steadiness becomes a must sometimes and not having a fixed place to call home might be a little annoying from time to time. It might work for a while, but would it work forever?
- Pro: all of your belongings are in the same place, you can easily trace them and keep them in order and organized (take a look here for some advice on small space decorating and organizing).
- Con: all of your belongings are in the same place, you can easily trace them and keep them in order. Don’t worry, I didn’t do a mistake by copying the same text. It’s just like that: this can be a great Pro and at the same time a great Con. Are you sure to be prepared for sometimes not being able to buy new things because of the lack of space? It can certainly be done, but it’s not always easy, so take it into consideration when you decide moving into a tiny house.
Now I think this is about all that comes to my mind for now, but I’m open to suggestions. I don’t own a tiny house, but I don’t own a two-floors villa either. I’m somewhere in the middle, so I really look forward to read your comments on the topic based on your own experiences. You can choose to write me here, by email or on the social accounts. Keep safe!
